Spring Soccer

So, as promised, I am finally getting around to posting pictures from Will's first season of soccer. It was so much fun! Watching the kids' progression over these past few months was amazing. Will's coach told me that he really shows talent as a soccer player. (toot toot...that was me tooting my own horn!) :) We played through the YMCA and Will was #4 on the Tiger Team. By the end of the season, he had really perfected his ROAR!
In the beginning, Will didn't know much about soccer. Hands were used, fouls were made, goals were scored in the wrong goal. (I have to admit that I didn't know anything either...I was trying to come up with a catchy soccer saying but all I could think of was "he shoots, he scores" but even I know that isn't right!) But things got better as we went and by the end of the season, Will had learned the rules and could listen to his coach's directions and put them in play on the field. He scored multiple goals throughout the season and provided a lot of assists as well. But the most important part was that he had fun and kept a good attitude throughout. While several of his teammates refused to play or threw tantrums during the game, Will was always there with a smile on his face and an eager attitude. And it seems it payed off in the end!
His last game was this past Friday and the whole team celebrated with a picnic and medal ceremony afterward (the controversial "participation medal"...but it meant a lot to Will, as it is now prominently displayed in his room!)He had a great soccer season and is already asking when he can play again.

Team huddle!

Chasing the ball!

Taking a break
